Why:

Riser pipes are the pipes sticking up out of the ground connecting to the bottom of your downspout. There should not be a gap at this connection. If you see a gap at this connection, it needs to be repaired/replaced. This gap allows water to escape the drainage system and erode the nearby landscape, then running down your foundation wall and into your basement. These are very quick inexpensive fixes that will can costs thousands in expensive basement fixes if neglected.

Signs needing repaired:

-Yellowing of the downspout adaptor. These adaptors should be white in color, but breakdown with UV sunlight and become brittle and break off.

-Broken pipe or discolored pipe is a sure sign your riser needs to be replaced. Weed eaters beat these pipes up and often need replaced.
