Why:

You sump pump discharges into a riser pipe which takes the water away from the house. If you see a gap between the smaller pipe coming out of the wall, and the large pipe sticking out of the ground, you need to have these replaced. There should not be a gap here. This gap allows water to escape and erode the soil nearby. This water goes straight down your foundation walls and can wreak havoc on your basement. This is a simple inexpensive fix, that can be very costly if neglected.

We repair/replace these connections for ~$95 to $125 on average. Additional costs would be if there is severe erosion nearby, and we have to dig up the pipe underground to properly re-slope it so it will carry the water away from the home.
